Carol Cornett is a licensed nurse practitioner who has successfully completed board examinations administered by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and currently holds a license in the state of Kentucky. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Spalding University and returned to Spalding 22 years later to earn her Masters of Science in Nursing. Spalding University is the fully accredited and nationally recognized private liberal arts college in Kentucky with a commitment to compassion and deep connection to community.
She is an active member of both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives. She has received a Fellowship thru the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine (A4M) and is actively pursuing additional certifications with the Institute of Functional Medicine and WPATH (World Professional Association of Transgender Health). Carol is certified in IV nutritional therapies through A4M and an active member of Sigma Theta Tau (International Honor Society of Nursing).
Carol Cornett APRN is dedicated to serving children, young adults, women and families to resolve both acute and long standing health concerns. She provides compassionate collaborative care, and will create an individualized treatment plan specific to your needs to correct underlying causes of "dis-ease", so you can "move toward a more vital you". Carol especially enjoys helping families dealing with ADD/anxiety, allergies and asthma, infertility/PMS/PCOS-exploring deeply into environmental/food toxins. Her other areas of expertise include: stress management, insomnia, GI disorders, immune system dysfunction, hormone imbalances and autoimmune diseases. Carol finds true joy in educating and empowering people to make informed lifestyle and nutritional choices to live longer, stronger, happier and healthier lives.
Carol utilizes several different therapies such as bioidentical pellets, High dose vitamin C, and detoxification, low dose naltrexone, nutritional and supplemental assessments including Food Intolerance Evaluations, Organic Acid testing and nutritional deficiency testing. She also heavily advocates for the usage of chemically safe personal care and home-care products, and is happy to make recommendations in this area to further enhance your healthcare goals.
Additionally, Carol volunteers her professional services at local free clinics and free community education platforms excited to share her knowledge. Carol is also very dedicated to the advancement of the integrative/functional medicine profession. She participates in legislative conferences and is a strong advocate for keeping local politicians updated on the research surrounding alternative therapies for healthcare. She mentors Nurse Practitioners in the field of Integrative/Functional medicine and her goal is to teach Functional Medicine to nursing students in a university setting.
Carol was born in Santa Monica California and raised in Kentucky (Owensboro/Louisville) and loves all things outdoors! She spends her free time gardening, biking, camping, fishing, and hiking with her husband, family and friends. She has lived in the Louisville, KY area for over 32 years and is excited to serve this vibrant community.

Lori Sweat, MD graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Summa Cum Laude in 1992. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine in 1995 and was then Chief Medical Resident in Internal Medicine from 1995-96. She practiced office Internal Medicine for one year then founded the first Hospitalist practice in Louisville at Caritas Medical Center in 1997. She practiced as a Hospitalist until 2002 then took time off to be a full time Mom to her two children. During her time away from medicine, she was introduced to the concept of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, and began studying that field with vigor.
In 2006, she founded Integrative Hormone Specialists, the first practice in Louisville dedicated solely to BHRT and functional medicine. Since then, she has been privileged to treat hundreds of patients in KY and numerous other states, restoring to them their former sense of well-being and vitality.
Dr. Sweat is married to Dr. Matt Sweat, a cardiologist. They have two children and two dogs that they enjoy tremendously. In her downtime, Dr. Sweat is an avid recreational triathlete, sings in a band and her church choir, and is learning the art of sustainable living including vegetable gardening at her family’s farm in Spencer County.

include not only male and female BHRT but also the use of nutrition and nutritional supplements to treat disease and dysfunction, natural therapies for treating depression and anxiety and other psychiatric issues, and safe and effective modes of hormone therapies for breast cancer survivors.
A thyroid patient herself, Lori also takes a very special interest in treating all kinds of thyroid diseases, especially autoimmune conditions.
Very experienced in Botox cosmetic and dermal fillers, and enjoys giving her patients a more youthful appearance to go along with their renewed inner vitality.
Michelle Gentile received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Bellarmine College in 1989. She has over 25 years of nursing experience in adult and neonatal critical care.
Michelle joined the IHS team in 2012 and enjoys discussing with clients the benefits of Functional Medicine and healthy living through good choices. She looks forward to helping clients with their HRT questions, as well as assisting them with our highly successful medically supervised weight-loss program. Michelle has been professionally trained and experienced in administering Botox as well as a Beautycounter skin care professional.
Having been born and raised in Louisville, Michelle is a married mother of two daughters.
